Emergency Services:

Services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to persons having a mental health emergency requiring immediate assistance. These services include crisis intervention, assessment, and pre-screening for crisis services including hospitalization.

Outpatient Therapy:

Provides assessment and treatment services for persons with a severe mental illness or serious emotional disturbance. The type of help offered varies and may address family relationship problems, parent/child conflicts, interpersonal-social conflicts and symptoms related to depres- sion, anxiety, and other acute psychiatric problems. Services are provided at offices in Houghton, Calumet, L’Anse, and Ontonagon.

Psychiatric Evaluation and Treatment:

Provides assessment and treatment services for persons with more severe psychiatric problems. Most referrals for psychiatric evaluation are made through local primary care physicians. For those in need, staff psychiatrists provide
continuing treatment with psychotropic medications. If less intensive psychiatric treatment is needed, individuals are
referred back to their primary physician for ongoing monitoring of their medication.

Nursing Services:

Nursing services include initial phone screening for psychiatric referrals, medication injections, tracking vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate), screenings for tardive dyskinesia, and providing education. The nurse is avail- able to consumers who are receiving psychiatric services.

Children’s Services:

Specialized services for children are also provided. These include Children’s Case Management, Home Based Services, Autism Benefit and Parent Support Partner Services. Additional information about these programs is available in the Children’s Services brochure and the Home Based Services brochure.

Psychological Testing:

Psychological evaluations are available when clinically indicated. Most referrals for psychological testing come from staff psychiatrists or psychotherapists. Re- ferrals are made when additional infor- mation is needed to make a diagnosis
